Flood Analysis

As infill developments gain new momentum due to changes in town planning rules with the implementation of the Auckland Unitary Plan, we assist more and more developers in their quest to develop land that either has an overland flow path and / or flooding affecting the development potential of the land. We appreciate the risks involved with these developments, and make sure that the developers understand the risks and challenges, but we also try to unlock as much value as possible of these challenging sites.

We are well experienced with hydrological and hydraulic modelling and we use a variety of software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS) to assist us with calculating conservative anticipated peak flows and associated flow depths and flood levels, which we then use to advise on proposed finished floor levels and locations of the new buildings on the site. Where required we can also design "engineered channels' to convey flood waters safely around a development, whilst ensuring neighbouring properties are not negatively affected.
